Teach Me Toddler by 24X7digital

  • March 28, 2011 7:00 am

Teach Me Toddler by 24X7digital is an outstanding learning app. Your child is rewarded and challenged during play. Our youngest is challenged by the numbers, shapes and letters. She knows them all, but this is a re-enforcer and she gets them wrong sometimes. That is ok. The voice is clear and the steps are easy to understand.

Who should pick up this app? Everyone who is a parent. Just get it and let your kid learn a few new things or just get rewarded for what they already know! Make sure you are part of the reward though. Encourage them when they get something wrong and be amazed when they have a few stickers. It is an easy app to get involved with.

24X7 Digital has apps for several levels including Toddler (the one we have for our 4 year old), Kindergarten, and 1st grade.

Lola’s Alphabet Train By BeiZ Ltd.

  • March 21, 2011 7:45 am

Lola’s Alphabet Train By BeiZ Ltd. is a spelling learning app. It teaches the alphabet in several languages and in a way where the child feels a sense of accomplishment as she helps Lola get her presents to their destination.

That is an important distinction. Just like Farmville on Facebook you want to see how far you can make it in the game. Lola’s Alphabet game is similar.

The graphics are very well done. The panda is cute and the train and alphabet are clear as can be.

I like the idea that the game can grow with my daughter. it has different levels. At four she is playing the easiest level, but I am looking forward to cranking it up.

Jack and Joe by Stupid Art Company

  • March 14, 2011 7:27 am

The Adventures of Jack and Joe by Stupid Art Company is a different kind of book. It is very interactive where other books move and read to your child the Adventures of Jack and Joe make your child perform tasks to continue. I do not want to give too much away, but it is clear when my youngest is playing this game.

It is narrated very well and has a very interesting story line. I read that it is 30 pages total, but I would have never guessed it didn’t have more.

My daughter likes to pick the wrong location for dog and make me pick the right spot. Check out the video to see more.

I do find it interesting that the dog purrs and looks like a cat. Is it me or is that a cat? My daughter didn’t mind and I have spent way too much time petting that catdog due to my daughters enjoyment of the game.

Horton Hears a Who and Berenstain Bears by Oceanhouse Media

  • March 7, 2011 7:26 am

We have review apps from Oceanhouse Media before. We love their reading apps. They do a great job and Horton Hears a Who and Berenstain Bears are two great additions.

First the books are classics, second they are written in a way that is different from book to book that might be paying homage to the original or just a nice change up from book to book. Horton Hears a Who is narrated in a very engaging manner and my four year old is just in love with it. She has a great imagination and the book really comes to life on the iPhone or iPad.

I think I remember the Berenstain Bears as a comic on Saturday mornings or something–whenever I watched it–it is familiar again now just as if I had the original book in front of me. It is nice to share some real classics.

The books will read to you or you can read them, and it remembers where you left off. A necessary piece of any book/app. It also highlights each word as it is read to your child, which again is a necessary item in any app/book. Your library should contain just about every Oceanhouse Media app as it comes out!

We give their books great reviews and these two are no different:
