Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Rudolph Camera by Oceanhouse Media

  • December 22, 2010 9:44 am

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Rudolph Camera by Oceanhouse Media is a fun app for the holidays. After installing the app and taking a picture of my 3 year old, who has a great imagination, she wandered around the house looking for Rudolph! It was a lot of fun taking pictures of Grandpa and getting his face behind and as Santa too.

My 3 year old “read” the Rudolph book last night as well. It is really like a movie rather than a book. Be sure to check out both when you get to the website here: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Rudolph Camera by Oceanhouse Media. Remember the book you can have read automatically, read along with it, or just read by myself. This makes it a great learning tool as well as suitable for a wider age range.

We give the Rudolph Camera app:
5 for Fun
2 for Learning
4 for attention

for a total of 11 – it isn’t meant to be a learning app, so that is ok!

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer book we give:
4 for fun
5 for learning
5 for attention
for a total of 14. It really is a must-have app. Since it is suitable for the iPad too this app will be great next year as well.

Kids Toys by Marc Didillon

  • December 19, 2010 7:05 am

Kids Toys by Marc Didillon is a great app for kids of a wide variety of ages. Kids Toys by Marc Didillon has coloring, numbers, adding, subtraction, division, multiplication, puzzles, and even a camera app to color on. You can also choose an “avatar” for each child.

I created one for myself and my 3 year old, but my 9 year old likes the app too!

As usual, we recorded a video, but it was hard to get my 3 year old to just show the app. She likes playing it so much. It is well worth the asking price and Marc is a great guy (and uncle!). We are not related, but I can tell from my conversations with him that he likes kids and his app shows that he understands them well.

Be sure to play the credits after you buy the app–if you can pry it out of your child’s hands! Wait until they fall asleep with your phone and then play the credits.

Marc let me know that I had set my 3 year old to “hard”. I blame my 9 year old for doing that :) Anyway here is a new video with my 3 year old solving a puzzle a little more appropriate for her age :)

Fun – 5
Learning – 5
Attention – 5

Total – 15!

Ages 3 – 10 (really the math portion was challenging for me at some parts).

Baa Baa Black Sheep by Duck Duck Moose

  • December 6, 2010 7:38 am

Baa Baa Black Sheep is another game in the series from Duck Duck Moose. My 3 year old finds it entertaining and is interested in each of the games. This game is more of a challenge in that it makes her think about how to get to the items to add to the “basket”.

We give it
Attention 4
Learning 4
Fun 4
Total 16
